P90X Day One

Waking up this morning, we were a little nervous.. Neither of us knew what to expect- was the first workout going to be impossible for us to finish? Would we be able to make the meals for the day? Would they even taste good enough to eat?
Jeff is skeptical. Well, we both are. It's quite a commitment to promise 90 days to a program when we have never known someone who has completed it. Although we have gotten a lot of praise and "good luck's" from our friends and family, we are still afraid that temptation will grab us and pull us down.
Today's breakfast included a mushroom & egg white omlet, strawberries and cottage cheese. Jeff did not like the cottage cheese. His first experience with cottage cheese was last night. I opened the lid to the cottage cheese and scooped a little bit out on a spoon. While that was not enough to trigger his gag reflex, eating an entire bowl this morning made him realize that the consistency was not to his liking. He has decided to drink 8 oz. of skim milk to replace cottage cheese in the morning. The only other problem with today's breakfast was the amount of food that we had to prepare. WOW- who knew that 8 oz. of cottage cheese and six egg whites was a lot of food?! Half way through my meal, I found myself struggling to swallow. Needless to say, some of the food went to waste. Atleast we know that we will not be going hungry.
Another interesting thing about our first day was the transition to a high protein, low fat diet. After lunch, the amount of protein must have caught up with me because my stomach becmae sour and even the smell of food was making me nauseous. I may be wrong about believing that the protein was the cause of this, but what else could it be?
Excitingly enough, Jeff and I made a great discovery today! We were battling over whether or not to purchase the P90X protein bars online.. For almost $30 you can get twelve whole bars.. yikes!! Seems expensive, right? We thought so too. So... we drove down to the mall today and (after wandering through the new Vans store and checking out the Nike Shox at footlocker) we found some great protein bars at GNC. The bars are called "GNC Pro Performance ProCrunch." They had three flavors, so we bought one of each. Once we decide which bar is the best, we plan to buy a whole box! The bars are almost identical to the P90X bars AND you get twice as many bars per box for $10 less! AWESOME!
OH- and the workout today was Chest & Back and Ab Ripper X. Both were insane. We did not write down our weights or reps today, although from now on we plan to. We look forward to tomorrow morning when we will get to try Plyometrics!
Jeff wants me to let you know that he is craving a churro right now. I would love a glazed donut with frosting and sprinkles...
Day One down! 89 to go!
